This cost calculator is designed to give you an initial impression of the overall costs of a custom home BEFORE you start designing.

Note that the meter square rates used here apply to Johannesburg.

Expect costs in Cape Town to be at least 15% higher.

Please note: This calculator cannot include all the details of your site or project, especially for alterations and renovations. Renovation projects are more complex and less predictable, especially in the early stages. This is because of existing buildings, unknown conditions, and the need for extra site checks and measurements.

For this reason, a 30% architect surcharge is added to renovation projects. This allows time for extra site visits, careful measuring, and more detailed drawings.
